There is possibility in the space between where we are and where we want to go.
Why Threshold exists…
My career has been spent at the intersection of people, leadership and organizational change.
I've worked inside complex organizational systems, advised leaders through difficult people and organizational challenges, designed and led leadership development, supported large-scale change, and seen firsthand the difference that thoughtful leadership can make.
I've also seen the opposite.
I've seen good strategies struggle because people weren't brought alongside. I've seen technically capable leaders face challenges that couldn't be solved through expertise and competence alone. And I've seen organizations invest significant energy in structures and processes without paying enough attention to the human dynamics underneath them.
Those experiences shaped my belief that organizations don't change, people do.
And when we strengthen the conditions in which people lead, make decisions, work together and navigate uncertainty, we create the conditions for organizations to change too.
Threshold brings together leadership development, organizational change and strategic human resources because, in practice, these things rarely exist separately. They are interconnected parts of how healthy, capable organizations work.
Who Threshold is for…
Threshold is for organizations that know something needs to shift, even when the path forward isn’t entirely clear.
You might be growing and realizing your people practices need to grow with you.
You might be facing or navigating significant change.
You may have identified a need to develop the next generation of leaders or to strengthen established ones.
You may simply know that where you are today isn’t quite where you need to be.
We work with people and organizations at these moments, bringing an experienced outside perspective, thoughtful questions, evidence-informed practice and practical support to help create clarity about what comes next.
Hi, I’m Heather.
I’m the founder of Threshold Consulting, a leadership and organizational development practice built right here in the Yukon Territory.
I was born and raised in Whitehorse, on the Traditional Territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. I’m grateful to have grown up, built my career and now raise my own family on these lands, and I recognize the responsibility that comes with living, working and building a business here. Living and working in the North has shaped how I see leadership and organizations. Here, relationships matter. Reputation matters. Community matters. The decisions we make inside our organizations have a very real impact on the people we work alongside, the families we know and the communities we share.
That has made the work deeply personal for me.
For more than a decade, I’ve worked in human resources, organizational development, leadership development and change, partnering with leaders and teams through growth, complexity, uncertainty and transition. Along the way, I’ve become increasingly curious about what makes some leaders and organizations able to navigate those moments exceptionally well. That curiosity has shaped much of my professional journey and continues to shape Threshold today.
I believe deeply in the potential of people. I’m fascinated by leadership, character, organizational culture and the human dynamics that sit beneath how organizations function. I love taking research and theory and turning it into conversations, experiences and practical tools that people can actually use.
I also believe that good consulting begins with humility. It means listening before prescribing. Asking thoughtful questions. Understanding context. Recognizing that the people closest to an organization often hold tremendous wisdom about what it needs and helping create the conditions for that insight to emerge. Threshold gives me the opportunity to bring together the work I care most about; leadership, people and meaningful change, while continuing to invest in the place and communities that have invested so much in me.
When I’m not doing this work, I’m usually somewhere in the beautiful chaos of raising two teenagers, spending time on the land with my family and dogs, travelling when we can, or enjoying the place I’m fortunate to call home. I also nurture my creative life and have found a love of painting with watercolours, a practice that gives me space to slow down, notice what I might otherwise miss. That same creativity often finds its way into my work, particularly in how I design learning experiences, facilitate conversations and help people see challenges in new ways.
I created Threshold because I believe there is enormous possibility in people and organizations, particularly at the moments when they are ready to grow, change or imagine something different.
I’d be honoured to help you explore what comes next,
Heather Fearon
